Treatment
Individual Psychological Treatment
Therapy is an opportunity to learn more about yourself as a person. Our therapeutic approach is centred on evidence-based psychological treatments, including behavioural activation, cognitive behavioural therapy, interpersonal psychotherapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy. Together we can develop behavioural habits that promote your well-being and create a meaningful life, identify and change negative thinking patterns, improve your relationships, and explore ways to achieve acceptance, self-compassion, and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
Evidence-based therapies have research behind them, meaning that scientific studies demonstrate that people benefit from participating in the therapy. Scientific studies also aim to understand why treatments work (or don’t work) so the therapy can be modified or improved. There is also an “art” to therapy. Cognitive Health Clinic strives to personalize the treatment to the individual, and sometimes this means combining various elements of different therapies to meet your specific needs.

Is Therapy Right For You?
Therapy works no matter your age. Research indicates that psychotherapy works for younger AND older adults. We have a special interest in working with older adults and are able to use extensive clinical experience working in geriatric neuropsychology to inform our therapy practice. We also strive to adapt psychotherapy to meet the needs of individuals who may be experiencing cognitive problems.
With respect to treatment modality, we offer individual therapy at this time, which means working with a single person in the treatment session. We do not currently offer couples or group therapy.
Dr. Gojmerac practices in areas she has the most experience with, using the treatments she knows best. If she cannot provide you with the treatment you need, she will refer you to other providers who can help.
